Existing-Home Sales Show Uptrend

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, said these are early signs of what may be a sustained recovery. “The pattern of home sales in recent months demonstrates a market in recovery,” he said. “Record low mortgage interest rates, job growth and bargain home prices are giving more consumers the confidence they need to enter the market.”

Building permits climb 11%

This climb in national building permits signals an uptick in optimism. Both permits and construction have increased from a year ago.  The article further states that housing starts are up 16.5% from the same month a year ago, and building permits are up 17.7%.
